This arts enriched education curriculum offers a more complete preschool experience in a private setting. Our goal is to foster academic readiness in a classroom environment while building and flourishing creative minds and abilities through music, dance, and personal expression. Each day our students receive half an hour of creative movement/dance and half an hour of music/drama in addition to becoming academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for kindergarten.
Our class uses different monthly themes, and daily activities in which they explore the world, and various topics. While we are an arts preschool, and focus heavily on the arts, we also incorporate math, science, literacy and social studies into our learning as well in order to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education.
Movement and music is very beneficial to a child's early development, and our dance program at the Performing Arts Preschool provides that opportunity to strengthen children's coordination, balance and brain power. Every week, children explore concepts of movement such as size, shape, pathway and level through age-appropriate games and activities. With curriculum based on Anne Green Gilbert's critically acclaimed Brain-Compatible Dance Education, children also engage in the "brain-dance", a set of movements that strengthens the brain with the body's natural reflexes.
Our music and drama program gives children exposure to the fundamentals of music theory, exploring concepts such as pitch, rhythm, tempo, and even the beginnings of reading music. Sign-language is also incorporated into the program. With hands-on activities, lots of opportunities for singing, and age-appropriate drama activities, children get an early start on their appreciation for music.
Our class currently meets Tuesday & Thursdays, but beginning Sept. 2018 will meet Mon/Tue/Thur mornings from 9:00-11:30am.
All classes have one lead teacher and two specialty teachers, all of whom are highly qualified in their field. Our classes have a limited cap in order to give the students the most time and attention possible. Each class has an enrollment cap of 15 students, with 3 instructors, giving us a student:teacher ratio of 5:1.
